Alpine Fall Training Camp - Stubai

Our BBTS athletes travel to Stubia, Austria for a one-week alpine fall training camp on the glacier. This camp provides a vital opportunity to gain early-season mileage on snow, with a strong focus on technical development, gate training, and physical conditioning. Set in a high-performance environment, athletes benefit from consistent training conditions and expert coaching to prepare for the competitive season ahead.

So, for a combined U12–U14 Stubai Camp, the participating athletes are usually:

(That makes them 10 to 13 years old during the season.)

Where

Greetings from the heart of the Alps! Our alpine camp is now fully set up in the breathtaking State: Tyrol (in German: Tirol).

With snow-capped peaks above and crisp alpine air all around, it's the perfect base for high-altitude training, glacier skiing, and unforgettable mountain adventures.

Camp Details:

  • Location: Stubia Valley, Austria
  • Altitude: Base camp at ~1,500m, access to glacier up to 3,250m
  • Conditions: Excellent early-season snow, groomed runs + off-piste zones

Athletes should have their own spending money and be financially prepared to cover any personal expenses or extras that may arise while traveling, including souvenirs, entertainment, or other personal wants and needs.

Fees Include

Lodging, meals, lift tickets, all ground transportation in Europe. Transportation to/From WV available at $75 each way.

Practices

Typical Daily Schedule Subject to CHANGE

05:45 – Wake-up & Prep

  • Light stretching
  • Dress in layers (glacier mornings can be cold)

06:30 – Breakfast

  • High-carb and protein-rich (e.g., oatmeal, eggs, bread, fruit)

07:00 – Depart to Glacier

  • Short drive + gondola ride up to ~3,250m (10,600 ft)

08:00 – On-snow Training Begins

  • Warm-up runs
  • Drills, gate training (GS/SL), video feedback

10:30 – Snack/Break

  • Quick nutrition: bar, banana, fluids

11:00 – Second Training Block

  • More gates, free skiing, technical focus
  • Usually ends around 12:30

13:30 – Lunch

  • Balanced recovery meal (carbs + protein)

15:00 - Depart from Glacier

16:00 – Dryland Training

  • Strength, agility, balance work
  • Or sport-specific training (e.g., core, plyos)

17:00 – Video Analysis / Technique Review

  • Coaches review morning footage
  • Discussion of movement patterns, tactics

18:30 – Dinner

19:30 – Stretch / Mobility / Mental Prep

  • Light yoga, recovery rollers, mindfulness

21:00 – Lights Out

  • Sleep is critical at altitude and during intensive training

BBTS Week:

  • Focus: Technique, drills, gate training (GS emphasis)
  • High volume, moderate intensity to build rhythm
